About

meet me

I'm Tany!

Welcome to croshly, where I share free crochet patterns — mostly amigurumi, plus seasonal projects, home decor, and whatever else I'm currently obsessed with. I design patterns myself, test them until they actually make sense on paper, and post them here for free.

How I Got Into This

My mom crocheted when I was a kid, and I used to sit and watch her for way longer than any kid should sit still. Somewhere around nine or ten she finally handed me a hook. I made a lot of tangled messes and one deeply lopsided dishcloth before anything clicked — but once it did, that was it.

I dropped it as a teenager, like most people do, and picked it back up in my twenties when I needed something to do with my hands after long days. Podcast on, hook in hand, no real plan. It turned into the thing that made everything else feel more manageable, and I didn't think much past that at the time.

Why croshly

For a long time this was just my thing — blankets for friends' babies, little stuffed animals for nieces and nephews, hats and scarves as gifts. People kept asking if I sold them, so I tried. I opened a small shop, took custom orders, spent weekends packaging and shipping.

It started feeling like a job, and not a fun one — I was making what other people wanted instead of what I actually wanted to design. So I stopped taking orders and made something just for myself instead: a tiny crocheted chick, on a whim, one afternoon. I posted it, wrote up the pattern, and gave it away for free. People started tagging me in their own versions. That's when I decided to build croshly and just keep doing that — designing patterns and giving them away.

What You'll Find Here

Free crochet patterns, written with real stitch counts, clear instructions, and enough detail that you're not left guessing halfway through. Some are quick weekend projects, some are more involved. I write for whoever's reading — brand new to crochet or thirty years in.

Everything here is free. If a pattern ever includes an affiliate link to yarn or a tool I actually use, I'll say so.

A Few Random Facts

I'm most productive before 10am with a large coffee — after that, no promises. I'm currently obsessed with DK weight cotton and anything mustard yellow or sage green. When I'm not crocheting, I'm over-watering my plants or reorganizing my yarn stash for the third time this month.

If you ever tag me in something you made from one of my patterns, that genuinely makes my week.
