These AI-inspired crochet bunnies have tiny outfits and rose details. The written guide breaks the project into the head, body, limbs and ears. This article is AI-assisted and does not document a physically tested Croshly sample; its illustrations should be treated as visual concepts.
Intended use: the version with plastic eyes, a pearl or bead, and craft blush is decorative. Cotton yarn and the name “safety eyes” do not establish that a finished item is safe for a baby. Use embroidered features and omit beads and applied coloring for items intended for young children; that substitution alone does not certify toy safety. See CPSC toy-safety guidance.
Let's get into how they're made, piece by piece.
Quick Overview & Materials
Each bunny is built from eight separate pieces — a head, a body (with a little crocheted "bolero" collar that doubles as the dress), two arms, two legs, and two ears — plus a small crocheted rose to finish off one ear.
What you'll need:
- Cotton yarn in the colors of your choice; follow the yarn label for care instructions.
- A 2.20mm crochet hook, sized to match the thickness of the cotton yarn — if you're using a different yarn weight, choose a hook that gives you a nice, tight amigurumi gauge so no stuffing peeks through.
- A pair of 8mm safety eyes.
- Polyester fiberfill stuffing.
- A yarn/wool needle for sewing and weaving in ends.
- Pink yarn (or a color of your choice) for embroidering the nose.
- Yarn in the color of your choice for the little rose decoration — the same color as the dress was used here.
- A small pearl or bead for the center of the rose.
- Straight pins, to help hold pieces in place while sewing everything together.
- A bit of blush, pastel, or similar craft coloring medium for adding a touch of color to the cheeks and ears at the end (any of these work — use whichever you're comfortable applying).

Part 1: The Head
Round 1: Magic ring, 6 sc, close. (6 sts)
Round 2: Work an inc in every stitch around. (12 sts)
Round 3: Work "1 sc, inc" around. (18 sts)
Round 4: Work the sequence "2 sc, inc" around — to keep the increase line from stacking up in one spot, start the round with just 1 sc before your first increase, work the "2 sc, inc" sequence normally after that, and finish the round with a single sc to complete it evenly. (24 sts)
Round 5: Work "3 sc, inc" around. (30 sts)
Round 6: Work "4 sc, inc" around, again offsetting the start — begin with 2 sc before your first increase, work the sequence normally from there, and finish with 2 sc to complete the round. (36 sts)
Round 7: Work "5 sc, inc" around. (42 sts)
Round 8: Work "6 sc, inc" around, offsetting the start with 3 sc before your first increase, working normally from there, and finishing with 3 sc. (48 sts)
Rounds 9–16 (8 rounds): Sc in each stitch around, no shaping — every round stays at 48 sts.
Placing the eyes: Insert your safety eyes between rounds 12 and 13, spacing them 8 stitches apart.
Round 17: Work "6 sc, dec" around, offsetting the start with 3 sc before your first decrease, working normally from there, and finishing with 3 sc. (42 sts)
Round 18: Work "5 sc, dec" around. (36 sts)
Round 19: Work "4 sc, dec" around, offsetting the start with 2 sc before your first decrease, working normally from there, and finishing with 2 sc. (30 sts)
Round 20: Work "3 sc, dec" around. (24 sts) — Start stuffing the head at this point.
Round 21: Work "2 sc, dec" around, offsetting the start with 1 sc before your first decrease, working normally from there, and finishing with 1 sc. (18 sts)
Round 22: Work "1 sc, dec" around. (12 sts)
Round 23: Work 4 decreases to close the opening. Leave the yarn tail — you'll use it shortly to sew the head closed and, later, to attach it to the body.
Part 2: The Body (with Bolero Collar)
Round 1: Magic ring, 6 sc, close. (6 sts)
Round 2: Inc in every stitch around. (12 sts)
Round 3: "1 sc, inc" around. (18 sts)
Round 4: "2 sc, inc" around, offsetting the start with 1 sc before your first increase and finishing with 1 sc to complete the round. (24 sts)
Round 5: "3 sc, inc" around. (30 sts)
Round 6: "4 sc, inc" around, offsetting the start with 2 sc before your first increase and finishing with 2 sc. (36 sts)
Rounds 7–10: Sc around, no shaping — 36 sts each round. On the very last stitch of round 10, change to your dress color.
Round 11: Sc around in the new dress color. (36 sts) Once complete, tie off and cut the original body color at the back of the work.
Round 12: Sc around, working through the back loop only (BLO). (36 sts)
Round 13: "4 sc, dec" around, offsetting the start with 2 sc before your first decrease and finishing with 2 sc. (30 sts)
Rounds 14–15: Sc around, no shaping — 30 sts each round.
Round 16: "3 sc, dec" around. (24 sts)
Rounds 17–18: Sc around, no shaping — 24 sts each round.
Round 19: "2 sc, dec" around. (18 sts)
Leave a long tail here for sewing the body to the head later, then stuff the piece firmly. Don't cut the yarn yet — you'll continue directly into the bolero collar.
The Bolero Collar
Round 1: Join a new strand of yarn into the front loops available around the opening (leave a short tail to weave in later). Chain 1, work 1 sc into that same stitch, then continue working 1 sc into each of the remaining front loops around. Close with a sl st into your first stitch. (18 sts)
Round 2: Chain 2, work 1 dc into the same stitch (this is your first dc), then work 3 more dc into the next 3 stitches (4 dc total in this little group). Into the next stitch, work an increase of 3 dc all into that same stitch. Repeat the sequence "4 dc, then 3-dc increase in the next stitch" all the way around. You'll have one dc left over on its own at the very end to complete the round evenly — work it, then close into your starting chain.
Round 3: Chain 2 to rise, work a dc into the same stitch, then work dc into each of the 4 base stitches below (matching the plain dc group from the previous round). Then work a regular increase (2 dc into the same stitch) over each of the 3 stitches from the shell increase below — this turns each group of 3 stitches into 6. Repeat this sequence around the whole round exactly as before, finishing with a single dc, and close into your starting chain.
Round 4 (decorative edge): Chain 3, skip the next stitch, work a sl st into the following stitch, then another sl st into the next stitch. Chain 3 again, skip the next stitch, and work another two sl sts the same way. Repeat "chain 3, skip 1, sl st, sl st" all the way around the entire round, finishing the last repeat with the two slip stitches. Cut the yarn, leaving a small tail to weave in with your yarn needle.
Part 3: The Arms (make 2 — one left, one right)
Round 1: Magic ring, 6 sc, close. (6 sts)
Round 2: Inc in every stitch around. (12 sts)
Rounds 3–4: Sc around, no shaping — 12 sts each round.
Round 5: Work 2 sc, then 3 decreases, then finish with 4 sc. (9 sts total)
Rounds 6–11 (6 rounds): Sc around, no shaping — 9 sts each round. Add a small amount of stuffing to the tip of the arm as you go. On the last stitch of round 11, change to your dress color.
Round 12: Sc around, working through the back loop only (BLO), in the new dress color. (9 sts)
For the arm that will become your left arm:
Rounds 13–14: Sc around, working through the full stitch (both loops) as usual — 9 sts each round. Don't add any more stuffing; amigurumi arms are typically left a little softer than the body.
Closing: Using your yarn needle, pick up each of the remaining front loop stitches around the opening, pull the yarn tight to cinch it closed, and secure. This finishes the left arm with its closure seam facing toward where the body will be — that's exactly what you want, so keep that orientation in mind when you attach it later.
For the arm that will become your right arm, work exactly the same as the left arm through round 12, then:
Round 13: Sc around the full 9 stitches as usual.
Round 14: Work only 4 sc (not the full round).
Close the same way as before, cinching the remaining stitches together. Working round 14 as a partial round shifts the closure seam so it faces the correct direction once mirrored onto the opposite side of the body.
Sleeve Trim (both arms)
Using your dress color, join the yarn into the front loop line left behind at the color-change round (round 12), orienting the arm so the hand end points away from you and the shoulder end faces you. Work sl st all the way around this edge for a neat decorative trim. Cut the yarn at the end and weave in with your yarn needle, taking the tail through toward the seam/interior side of the arm to keep it hidden.
Part 4: The Legs (make 2)
Round 1: Magic ring, 7 sc, close. (7 sts)
Round 2: Inc in every stitch around. (14 sts)
Round 3: "1 sc, inc" around. (21 sts)
Rounds 4–7: Sc around, no shaping — 21 sts each round.
Round 8: "1 sc, dec" around. (14 sts)
Round 9: Work 5 sc, then 2 decreases, then finish with 5 sc. (12 sts total)
Add a light amount of stuffing to the piece here.
Rounds 10–16 (7 rounds): Sc around, no shaping — 12 sts each round.
Closing: Fold the opening of the leg flat, bringing the front and back together, and work 5 sc through both layers at once to close it flat. Leave a long tail for sewing the leg to the body.
Part 5: The Ears (make 2)
Round 1: Magic ring, 6 sc, close. (6 sts)
Round 2: Work "1 sc, inc" around. (9 sts)
Round 3: Work "2 sc, inc" around. (12 sts)
Round 4: Work "3 sc, inc" around. (15 sts)
Round 5: Work "4 sc, inc" around. (18 sts)
Rounds 6–10 (5 rounds): Sc around, no shaping — 18 sts each round.
Round 11: Work "4 sc, dec" around — repeat this sequence a total of 3 times around the round. (15 sts)
Round 12: Sc around, no shaping. (15 sts)
Round 13: Work "3 sc, dec" around. (12 sts)
Rounds 14–15: Sc around, no shaping — 12 sts each round.
Cut the yarn at the end of round 15, leaving a long tail for sewing the ear to the head.
Assembly
- Close the head opening. Using the yarn tail left from round 23 of the head, thread your yarn needle and pick up all the remaining front loop stitches around that small opening. Pull tight, knot, and trim.
- Close the body opening. Work an invisible fastening-off closure on the body: insert your needle in from the front into the second stitch, then bring it back through toward the inside from the stitch you started at.
- Attach the head to the body. Position the head onto the body with its seam facing the back of the bunny, so it stays hidden and doesn't shift around. If you're newer to sewing amigurumi pieces together, pin the two pieces in place first to make this easier. Sew by taking one stitch from the body and one stitch from the head, going back into the same stitch you just came out of before moving to the next — repeat this all the way around. Before your seam is completely closed, add a bit more stuffing to the body so it holds its shape firmly, then continue sewing until you reach back to where you started. Knot and trim.
- Attach the arms. Pin each arm in place first, keeping in mind that the left and right arms each have their own correct orientation (their closures should face in toward the body). Sew each arm on by taking one stitch from the body and one stitch from the arm, repeating around. On your last stitch, tie a knot, then take that long tail toward the back of the body — you'll tie it off together with the same tail from the second arm once both are attached, then trim.
- Attach the legs. Pin the legs in place — a diagonal orientation was used here, but you can angle them however you like the look best. Just make sure the decrease rounds on each leg face toward the front. Sew by taking a stitch from the leg and a stitch from the body, alternating all the way around. After your last stitch in that position, move around to the front of the leg and take two more stitches through the leg to tack it in closer against the body — this keeps the legs from hanging loose and swinging freely. This step is optional, but it's worth doing if you'd like the finished legs to sit closed rather than splayed open. Repeat with the second leg, then take both tails to the back to knot together and trim.
- Attach the ears. Close each ear the same way you closed the body (the invisible fastening-off technique from step 2) — this seam will end up on the inside of the folded ear. Fold each ear in half along that seam and join the fold with a few small securing stitches to help it hold its folded shape. Pin each folded ear in place — these were positioned at round 4 of the head — and sew in place. Take the yarn tails from both ears to the same point on the head, knot together, and trim.
- Embroider the nose. Thread your needle with pink yarn (or your color of choice) and embroider the nose at the same round as the eyes, on the front/interior area of the face. Cut the tails and weave them in to hide.
The Ear Rose
Using yarn in the color of your choice (the dress color was used here):
- Start with a slip knot and chain 15.
- In the 3rd chain from the hook, work 2 hdc.
- In the next chain, work a sl st.
- In the next chain, work 3 hdc, all into that same chain.
- In the next chain, work a sl st.
- Repeat "3 hdc in one chain, sl st in the next" all along the remaining length of the chain.
- On the very last chain, work only 2 hdc (instead of the usual group of 3), then chain 2.
- Join with a sl st into the base stitch to close.
- Tie a small knot to secure, then cut the yarn, leaving a tail long enough to sew the rose together.
Shaping the rose: Roll the finished strip up into a tight spiral, using the wavy scalloped edge to form the "petals." Stitch through all the layers at the base as you go to keep the coil secure and holding its shape. Just before your last few stitches, tuck the small pearl or bead into the center of the rose, take a couple more securing stitches around it, knot, and trim any short leftover ends — but keep your main working tail long enough to sew the finished rose onto the ear.
Sew the rose onto the ear, then finish your bunny with a light touch of blush or your preferred coloring medium on the center of both ears and the cheeks.
And that's a complete little AI-inspired bunny, ready for cuddling. Making a matching pair takes some patience — between the collar shaping and the mirrored arms, there's a fair bit to keep track of — but the end result is worth every round. If you try this one, I'd love to hear what you used for the blush and face detailing, since that's always the step I'm most curious to compare notes on. And remember, projects pulled from AI-generated images don't always translate perfectly into yarn — but for a design like this one, simple enough to actually pull off, it's worth taking the leap and giving it a try.
